Ok, here are some directions to the Feliciana Retreat Center from New Orleans. Note that the mileage from I-10 at Causeway Blvd. to the exit (210) at Laplace to I-55 and Hammond is not exact, but off by no more than a mile are so. (Just follow the signs that direct you toward Hammond.) Also note - ignore any GPS or IPhone advise to exit I-55 at Hwy 10 to head west thru Greensburg. Do not go that way, the bridge is still out, the recommended route below is nicer anyway. 1) I-10 West thru Metairie and Kenner, continue on to Laplace (approx. 22 miles past the Causeway exit). 2) At Laplace take Exit 210 North toward Hammond, you are now on Interstate 55. Continue for approximately 60 miles to Kentwood where you will exit (Exit 61), then taking a left on Hwy 38 heading west. 3) Continue west on Hwy 38 for approximately 16 miles, maybe a mile or so further. Look for a church with a white steeple on the right. Turn right here on to Hwy 432. You are on the right road if you pass the small cemetery at the rear of the church. Continue for 8.5 miles to where Hwy 432 terminates at Hwy 67. 4) Turn right onto Hwy 67 and continue for 2.3 miles. Look for signs to the Feliciana Retreat Center and Camp Ruth Lee. Turn left here onto Hwy 422. 5) Continue on Hwy 422 for 2.6 miles. You will pass a lumber yard on your right. The entrance to the Feliciana Retreat Center is immediately after the lumber yard. Turn in (right turn) here. 6) Continue on the Feliciana Retreat Center road for approximately one mile. When it curves to the left you will pass the log cabin and about 150 to 200 yards after that you will see the observing field on the left. If headed to the lodge, continue past the field and follow the road to the left. Bridge on Hwy 10 has been repaired. I was on the hwy about 3 weeks ago. You can take that route if you want, but a nicer drive is sometimes better.

Curious, Brenda at the Feliciana Retreat Center told me just a few days ago that the Hwy 10 bridge at the Tickfaw River just east of Greensburg was still out. In any event, headed west from Kentwood on Hwy 38 is the more direct and scenic route. Barry Simon
