More about the weather for the coming week at the White Horse Christian Retreat Camp
I have looked at 3 weather services for Sandy Hook, MS. Looking also at Columbia, MS and Bogalusa, LA the Sandy Hook forecast looks to be an extrapolation based upon what is shown for both Columbia and Bogalusa. In respect to temperatures it seems to run about a degree lower than Columbia which is about 12 miles to the north and about a degree higher than Bogalusa which is about 20 miles to the south.
Being Saturday now - the forecast for next Saturday is still one week off so could be more in error than is the forecast for Tuesday which is just 3 days away. That being said the 3 forecasts that I looked at - AccuWeather, Intellicast and WeatherUnderground are all pretty much in agreement. The high and low temperatures for each day only vary by 3 or 4 degrees at most and the cloud cover forecasts are also pretty much in agreement.
All of the above being said the best days and nights for the star gaze this year seem to be (right now, and the forecast could change) Tuesday day and night and Saturday day and night.
On Tuesday the afternoon high should be about 81 degrees with partly cloudy to clear skies and with clear skies at night with low overnight temperatures down to 55 to 57 degrees (note that the temperatures before midnight should be a bit above the 55 to 57 degree low temperature
On Saturday the afternoon high should be about 60 to 64 degrees under clear blue skies and the evening night-time skies should be clear with temperatures dropping overnight to a low of between 38 and 43 degrees (could be a bit warmer prior to midnight). Saturday looks like a real good astronomy night.
The three other days and nights, right now, have Wednesday and Thursday as the worst, mostly cloudy and remaining mostly cloudy at night with some chance of rain. Friday however does have some promise. Two of the three forecasts have it as either partly cloudy or clear on Friday night . With WeatherUnderground having it as clear for both Friday during the day and the night. All 3 forecasts have the Friday night overnight temperature down to about 40 degrees, so next weekend will have daytime highs in the low 60's and overnight lows near 40. Come prepared for that.
