The rescheduled Spring Scrimmage is still scheduled to begin in a little more than 3 weeks (3 weeks from this coming Wednesday). As of right now I have just received the $10 "Good Faith" payment, actually an advance deposit from just two other attendees in addition to me. What does this mean? Here are some of the possibilities -
1) Lingering concern over the potential spread of Covid-19. Do I have it going in? Will I get the virus from someone else in attendance if I attend?
2) Am I getting push back at home from family members who would rather that I not attend or who, are in fact, telling me not to go.
3) Job concerns - I have been off work and it is likely that I may be back at work by mid-May. The last thing I need to do is to use vacation days at that time, maybe days I no longer have.
4) Money concerns - if there has been an income loss, money to attend may not be available.
5) Weather concerns - we have absolutely no way of knowing over 3 weeks out just what the weather will be.
Note - the past 5 days would have been when the Spring Scrimmage was originally planned to be held. Weather wise we would have had several good days and nights. Wednesday during the day would have been cloudy but pleasant. Some late overnight rain and then rain for much of the day on Thursday, but ending in the late afternoon with some clearing. Perhaps too damp and humid for serious observing. Friday and Saturday would have made up for Wednesday and Thursday, it would have been great. If anyone would have elected to stay on Sunday, it would have been another great day and night.
So, ok, here is the situation - I need feedback from anyone who is thinking about attending or was planning on attending (even if you have not yet sent your good faith payment in). I need to talk to Carol at White Horse and let her know what we are going to do. If I get no response within the next day or so or if the only responses are pretty wishy washy such as "I would like to come, but it might be tough, and maybe if it is looking clear for Saturday, I might come" that would tell me not to count on you. That being the case, I will unfortunately and reluctantly have to cancel.
I do want feedback but silence will tell me a lot too.
