Ok, this is how things are looking -
For Thursday (with arrival after 12 noon) we have 5 attendees
For Friday, weh have 8 attendees,
and for Saturday we have 8 attendees
Note - these numbers could change a little, but not by a great deal
The bunk house that we use, main one behind the main building has been cleaned and it will be sterilized again this Monday. We will have access to the main bunkhouse, the main building (where we eat, do the internet, and watch movies), the game room, and of course the outside fields, primarily what we call the Arena Field.
On the Arena Field, directly opposite the entry gate, on the other side of the far fence are some scrubby small trees. Carol will have them cut down this week or failing that I have permission to bring a saw for us to cut down. This will give us even more access to the southern sky, particularly useful for seeing and photographing the great Omega Centauri globular cluster.
To our east Comet Swan will be rising about 1 hour before sunrise, we hope to be able to see it in the brightening sky. It has a tail and it is relatively bright.
Carol is going to make every effort to be able to have hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. available for our purchase in the evening. As stated in a recent post, the Country Diner was badly damaged during recent storms. It will not be open during the Scrimmage. It should be back in operation in time for the Deep South Star Gaze in the fall. In the area we do have the convenience store down Hurricane Creek Road to the west and it is up and running. Near it is the Smoke House where we can get barbeque. 12 or so miles up Hwy 35 in Columbia are many more restaurants as well as other stores including Wal-Mart.
Bunk space can be rented for $35 per night. Bring your own bedding. Some are staying in their own tents, there is a fee, $15 and for anyone coming up and not staying there is a $10 day use fee. Obviously for any snack meals that Carol is able to serve, there is a fee. The same as before, very reasonable. Bring your checkbooks to pay for your sleeping arrangements or food that you purchase. There is a microwave oven available for our use as well as a coffee pot, etc. We can buy our own ice at the convenience store down the road.
Questions? Let me know.
