As of today, we have 30 registered and given good weather on Saturday the 14th we could pick up a few more. Still and all this is approximately 1/3rd the attendance we get for the fall DSSG and the Spring Scrimmage is over 3 nights, not 5. We will be "expanding" somewhat. Here are the changes -
1) Raffle, we will have a raffle, no, everyone will not get a door prize ticket. We can do that in the fall because that is covered by our registration fee and we do not have a registration fee for the Spring Scrimmage. Instead we will be selling raffle tickets for those that choose to participate. The tickets will be $5 each or 6 for $25. The raffle will take place on Saturday at 3 pm. On the field if the weather permits that and in the Lodge if it is raining outside. Prizes will be based upon how many tickets we sell, the value of the prizes will be based upon money taken in. If we sell just $50 in tickets, we will have a prize or prizes worth that, if $100 in tickets we will have appropriate prizes for that level and so on. We can go to higher levels and will if we sell more tickets.
Note - if you buy a ticket or tickets you do not have to be present to win, but you have to attend the Spring Scrimmage to buy tickets.
2) Programs - if needed, we will have programs. I am currently working on a program on the Bortle Scale and assessing observing locations. What I have may not yet be as polished as what I will show at a club meeting at a later date, but the information and images will be the same.
3) Setting up on the field - please hold off on your arrival until about 11 am on Thursday. Some of us will be there a bit earlier to set up a few canopies for others to key off of in setting up. We do plan on moving in a bit closer to the center of the field to both lower our horizons on whatever your near side is and to hopefully make the planets more accessible a bit earlier.
Questions, please ask.
