I am helping one of my fellow Pontchartrain Astronomy Society members, Sid Gelpi, sell some of his astronomy equipment that he is no longer able to use as he also wants to sell his C 9.25 with a 2" focuser and strictly go to just a scope with a 1.25" focuser. Please let me know if any of you are interested in anything and I can provide a few more photos. In a few days I will post what remains to "CloudyNights" where this equipment should sell fast. I will be able to bring anything that is sold to our meeting this Friday night - August 16th or to the White Horse Camp on August 30th for our pre-DSSG weekend. Hi Barry,
I'm interested in the Celestron C9.25. Its focal length is a bit long for a beginner, but with proper work, I'm sure that I can tame the beast. This sort of telescope would probably help me with my goal of viewing planetary nebular.
I'm still learning how objecting focal length, eyepiece focal length, TFOV, and exit pupil / AFOV relate. With the celestron's huge focal length, I run the risk of very small exit pupils, correct?
First off, how much is he proposing for the scope? Above $800-$850?
Thank you for your time and effort with DSSG, Naim C.V.

The C9.25 tube assembly I above $850. It is hardly used and was purchased thru Company 7. Company 7 checks out each scope that they sell and they will reject those that do not meet standard. The scope in question was the third 9.25 tried by the current owner. The first two were rejected (purchased elsewhere) and returned. This one is good. Original purchase price was about $1700 and the owner wants $1300. This does not include a mount. Let me know if you want to pursue this.
Are you local? New Orleans area?

Oh, that is a bit outside my price range. I'm currently looking at a few used refractors too.
I am fairly local. Hattiesburg, MS.

This one is owned by Ralph Junius, one of our PAS members and a regular at the Deep South Star Gaze. He would like to sell it to downsize to another 20 inch dobsonian with a faster focal ratio (making the new one smaller).
What Ralph has is a Night Sky 20 inch f/4.5 scope with Pegasus optics and Argo Navis. The scope also has a very nice 2" FeatherTouch focuser and a nice "orchard" ladder making access to the focuser when the scope is pointed high overhead easy. (Note - an orchard ladder is wider at the base making it steady. It has 3 points of contact with the ground making it more stable on uneven ground than a ladder with 4 points of contact. In addition the steps are closer together. This makes getting to the proper height (eye to eyepiece) a bit easier. The scope also comes with wheels and handles making transport from a vehicle to observing position a bit easier.
The optics have been compared to similar sized dobsonians. This mirror is a winner. It was recoated a few years ago.
Asking $5500 and will consider reasonable offers. Can be delivered to the Deep South Star Gaze.
If strongly interested please let me know and I will contact Ralph with any questions.
