Barry:
This is my first “star gazing party (event). I have the registration form. My questions are mainly logistic.
1. Is there a map of the retreat; locations of rest rooms, dining area, showers, etc.? 2. If I plan to use a tent can I keep all my stuff together, see diagram below? 3. Is there any electrical service near by the observation areas to recharge the different power packs? 4. Where can I find a copy (on-line) of the DSSG Light and Parking rules? 5. Will there be an vendors there?
I am looking forward to the join the group.
Thanks,
Chuck

As I said in my previous reply to your previous post you should be posting in the category that says Deep South Star Gaze, not Spring Scrimmage. In my previous reply I refer you back to posts from 10/13 to 10/15 of last year where most of your questions will be answered. Also under that heading you will find registration form (links) as well as a link to the "Light and Parking Rules".
To answer some of your questions above specifically -
1) Yes, just answered that by referring you back to previous posts which has links to maps and schematics 2) Regarding keeping all of your stuff together - you have a lot of stuff so you are requiring a pretty large footprint with both the 8' x 16' tent and the 10' x 10' pop up fly as well as the Dodge Caravan and the telescope space you will need. On the Arena Field where most of us will be (generally) we have people that have their vehicle (but no rv's or campers). Most will have their telescope set up, then about 10 ft back from that a 10' x 10' canopy and then behind that their vehicle. There will be enough room left between their vehicle and the fence to pull out and get out.
Due to the width of the field there is not enough room to really repeat the same pattern on the other side of the field. On that side we have the room to have 5 or 6 vehicles parallel park in line with the length of the field. On that side vehicles can pull small trailers (about the size of a small U-Haul rental). Doing this will allow them to get out around the perimeter of the field and will allow a corridor running the length of the middle of the field giving us space between telescopes on both sides.
3) There are certainly places where you can recharge batteries. There are several 30 amp outlets generally to be used by those with rv's/campers and these are outside of the Arena Field. There is another area where people plug in and run long lines 150 or more feet of line to the field. Personally I run all of my stuff on batteries.
4) As I said before, the Light and Parking Rules link can be found if you scroll back thru posts going back to August of this year.
5) Vendors - maybe, not sure yet. Will know that in a few days, so no specifics to give just now. We encourage all to bring any used equipment that they would like to sell.
