The 2020 edition of our Deep South Spring Scrimmage begins 8 weeks from today on Thursday April 23rd. A few have asked about an extra day on the front end and if a few more are interested in that I believe we can add another day on the front end so we can run the Spring Scrimmage from Wednesday, April 22nd to Sunday April 26th.
Keep in mind that the Spring Scrimmage is basically like the larger Deep South Star Gaze with the following exceptions -
1) No registration fee as we do not do door prizes, many that we purchase, for the Spring Scrimmage.
2) We do not do scheduled Programs so we have no costs related to that. (Some movies will be available, and speaking for myself, I always have some programs on my computer that I am willing to show if cloudy skies has us indoors on a night or two.)
3) We do not have planned/scheduled meals at White Horse for the Scrimmage (however Carol can do a "snack bar" in the evening including items such as hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, etc. For many this will substitute for a dinner.
4) We are on our own for other meals, so bring your own or consider the Country Diner which is 3.5 miles away back on Hwy 35 South (1504 Hwy 35 S., Foxworth, MS). Hours at the Country Diner are 7 am to 4 pm. Peak time is lunch time. Anyone who has attended the Deep South events at White Horse will tell you how much we like the Country Diner.
So what are the costs?
Your transportation expenses to and from the White Horse Retreat Camp, plus $35 per night for a bunk and full bathroom facilities. (Same price for an rv spot with full bathroom facilities.) If setting up a tent to sleep in overnight the charge is $15 per tent for individuals or same family couples. If visiting and not staying overnight we need to collect $5 per person to turn over to White Horse.
Arrival time - 12 noon (but you may want to enjoy a good lunch at the Country Diner first). We will determine if we start on the 22nd or 23rd based upon interest and the weather.
Note about the weather - if the weather is forecast to be bad and really looking to be bad for the whole run of our scheduled dates, we do have the option to cancel. This is exactly what happened last year. Carol at White Horse suggested that and gave us that option. We were able to reschedule for the following month during the next favorable "new moon" cycle.
We are not going to cancel if let's say Wednesday and Thursday weather prospects are poor but Friday and Saturday are looking good. Additionally if the weather forecast is flipped with Wednesday and Thursday looking good but Friday and Saturday looking bad, we will hold the Spring Scrimmage.
I will not be creating a Reservation Form for anyone to fill out, but for anyone intending to attend. Please let me know here what your plans are. It is nice to have an idea what our attendance will be for various purposes including bunk assignments.
Check the weather and check for news here. We do not want anyone making a trip needlessly. Any questions, please ask.
Thanks!
