We are now 5 weeks and 6 days out from the start of the 39th Annual Deep South Star Gaze
Here is the registration list as of 9-22-21 -
1 Kern, David
2 Kern, Clariza
3 Simon, Barry
4 Gaddy, Ken
5 Meis, Nicholas
6 Thompson, Gregory
7 Shirkey, Bryan
8 Wright, Steven
9 Walter, Matt
10 Withrow, Kate
11 Philpot, Len
12 Miele, John
6 of those registered are PAS members, 3 are from the club in Mobile, AL, 1 is from Huntsville, AL (VBAS), 1 has no club affiliation, and 1 is a member of both the PAS and BRAS (Baton Rouge).
3 of the 5 rv/camper spots are already taken.
A word about meals -
You will notice that I did not include anything about meals this year. We may have some meals on site but meals are pretty much registration count dependent. If you would like meals on site please indicate that on your registration form in some way. Please highlight what you write so I will see it. As we get closer to the start date I will have a pretty good idea as to how many are interested in meals on site.`I am thinking that we can probably do an afternoon meal (4 pm) on Thursday, Friday and Saturday as well as an evening "snack bar" at say 8 pm. For breakfast the Country Diner opens at 6 am. Also "The Smokehouse" is open on Thursday thru Saturday. For anyone who ventures into Columbia for a Wal-Mart run, there is a restaurant right behind Wal-Mart called "The Magnolia Grille" which is excellent. We ate there during our Hurricane Ida evacuation.
At "White Horse" a coffee pot, toaster and microwave are always available for anyone who wants to use those.
Something else that I need to post about will be in a separate post. It has been 3 years since I posted (and updated) rules pertaining to parking on the Arena Field, light rules, etc. Reading some posts on CloudyNights about common sense rules at other star parties, we need to tweak our rules a bit. Certainly a lot depends upon our numbers and the weather. More about this in an upcoming post.
Any questions? Please post them onto this thread.
