I am in the process of trying to work out a weekend where we can give "White Horse" a trial run. I have talked to Carol about a group of us (as many as would like to) in order to kick the tires and look under the hood. I am trying to arrange this for the weekend beginning on Friday, August 10th. Of course this is dependent upon a number of things, chiefly the weather. The weekend beginning Friday August 10th, including the 11th, and maybe even Sunday the 12th, could possibly be ideal for a number of reasons -
1) New Moon Weekend
2) Perseid Meteor Shower Weekend
3) Currently nothing else is booked at White Horse for that weekend
What we can get such as meals on site are going to depend upon our numbers. If little interest, but a few, we can probably still go there but not stay in a bunkhouse, but perhaps camp out and be on our own for meals. Not a big deal really.
This would be a time to really check out the electrical situation - breaker capability/amperage, etc. and length of run to where we would be plugging in. The sheer size of where we can set up really puts no restrictions on the number of rv's and campers. I will say however that the road leading to White Horse off of Hurricane Creek Road is a bit of a roller coaster ride. Gabe Dickens who has a pop-up trailer does not feel like the road is an issue, but I did want to bring that up.
I plan on showing more images of "White Horse" at the June meeting on Friday night and discussing the advantages that "White Horse" offers. I will also briefly review some of the reasons why we are leaving the Feliciana Retreat Center.
