We have several first time attendees at the Deep South Star Gaze this year so I am including the attachment below again on "Field Rules". Please look it over carefully and post questions if you have them. I am going to remind all about some of the key things for all to remember - 1) No driving on or off the field after dusk. We are in a dark area and headlights and road dust are to be avoided. Please consider this if you go off site to get a meal or you are planning your departure from home. You must arrive before it is dark. 2) All auto interior lights including trunk lights have to be disabled. 3) No green lasers as points. If it is clear some will be doing astrophotography. No lasers. 4) If you are using a laptop on the field the screen must be red shielded. You should use it in a small computer tent to shield it from others. Have the screen facing away from others. There is a lot more in the attached "Observing Field Rules" If you think these guidelines, common to all organized star parties, are too restrictive and you cannot see how you can follow them, you should not attend. Our rules are pretty common to all organized star parties where the goal is to observe the night sky without any extraneous light. Barry
