See the attached schematic, courtesy of John Martinez. The plan shown is, we believe, the most equitable way to lay out this field.
One thought was to not have any organized parking plan at all, to just let things happen and let the chips fall where they may. Doing that I would estimate that we could probably get about 15 vehicles with canopies and telescopes on this field and we may still consider doing that depending upon the weather. The plan shown, however, maximizes the number of vehicles, canopies and telescopes we can comfortably get on this field and it will make it more impressive to visit and take in.
Note - we can not have rv's and campers on this field, we just do not have the space.
The top, labeled part of the image is the north side of the field, south is then at the bottom, with east to the right side and west to the left side. Each grid is 5' x 5". We have a driving lane which is 20 feet wide on the north side and to the immediate south of that is a 15 ft. wide space for attendees to park their vehicles on this side. Approximately 20 feet allotted to vehicles, and then 15 feet for a canopy with space from the front or rear end of a vehicle to the telescope side of the canopy, but 15 feet total. Scopes are then set up about 10 feet in front of your canopy. Coming up from the south side cars have a 15 ft wide driving lane, and vehicles here are parallel parked. Parking spots are 30 feet long and 10 feet wide. This will give a spot by each car for a canopy and a small trailer or a tent. Spots like this can easily be shared with a friend. Telescopes running down the center line of the field are about 15 feet apart from each other.
We hope this works, it may not, however try as we might there was really no way to have identical setups on both sides of the field as the field width of 130 feet prevents that.
Remember that this is our first year at White Horse and there will be some bugs to work out of the plan.
